The U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force on Wednesday arrested Michael Alexander Candelario in Phoenix, Arizona for a failure to appear warrant issued out of Carson City.
The Carson City Sheriff’s Office had requested aid of the Marshals Service in locating and arresting Candelario for a failure to appear warrant on a felony theft case out of Carson City. The victim in the theft case, a U.S. military veteran, allegedly lost $45,000 and had to cash out his retirement in order to cover the loss, according to the Carson City Sheriff's Office.
Candelario was the owner of Lake Tahoe Brewery Company in Carson City, which closed down in January 2016.
The failure to appear warrant stems from Candelario not showing to a status hearing on a case being re-tried after a December 2018 hung jury in which 11 jurors were in favor of a conviction, and 1 against conviction.
It is alleged that Candelario is involved with other fraudulent activities across the nation where he set up fake companies taking money from hospitals in Virginia, Louisiana and California, according to the U.S. Marshal's Office.
USMS in Phoenix booked Candelario in the Maricopa County Jail as Fugitive from Justice where he awaits extradition back to Carson City.
The USMS Fugitive Task Force is comprised of Deputy U.S. Marshals, ICE-ERO, Washoe County District Attorney’s Office, Division of Investigations, Nevada Division of Parole and Probation, U.S. Postal Inspection Service, Nevada Department of Corrections, Office of the Inspector General (NDOC IG), Nevada DMV Compliance and Enforcement Division, Nevada Gaming and Control Board, Storey County Sheriff’ and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
